AIAP’s April 2026 Hike

The AIAP hike for this month will be Oak Riparian Park in Oceanside. More information about the trail here.

Meeting Time & Location:

We meet at the park at 7:15 AM and start promptly at 7:30 AM.

Hike Details:

This trail begins from Oak Riparian Park, where you'll find a parking lot, restrooms, a playground, and picnic areas. The trail leads to Lake Calavera Preserve, winding along Calavera Creek. The trail is well-maintained, partly shaded by vegetation, and includes wooden boardwalks and bridges with nice water views.

The hike starts beside a creek bordered by oak trees. You'll hike beneath the enormous canopies of living oak trees as you cross the creek. Live oaks, willows, gooseberries, and lemonade berries abound in this area. The trail proceeds alongside the stream and crosses it several times before emerging into an open grassland.

Important Reminders:

This hike was evaluated as moderate: 4 miles, elevated 518ft., 1.5-2 hr loop.

Please bring enough water, breakfast to share, water and wear comfortable hiking boots. 

We will have breakfast in the park.
