AIAP’s March 2026 Hike

The AIAP hike for this month will be Cowles Mountain from Big Rock. More information about the trail here.


Meeting Time & Location:

We meet at Big Rock Trailhead at 7:15 AM and start promptly at 7:30 AM.

Hike Details:

Cowles Mountain is the highest point in the city of San Diego, California, located within Mission Trails Regional Park, and is a very popular hiking destination known for its panoramic views of the city, ocean, and Mexico. Wildflowers grow alongside the trial during early summer months.

Elevation: 1,593 feet (486 m). 4.9 mi length, 2-3 hr out and back. This hike was evaluated as a hard hike.

Important Reminders:

Please bring enough water, breakfast to share, water and wear comfortable hiking boots. 

We will have breakfast on the peak.
