General Meeting: "The U.S. Healthcare System: Problems and Solutions" by Mr. Maz Hadaegh

We would like to invite you to AIAP's 5th virtual general monthly meeting in 2021 on May 26th, from 7 to 8:00 pm. This meeting will be available on Zoom, and Facebook.

Our guest speaker is Mr. Maz Hadaegh who is an Engineering Program Manager and Healthcare Activist. Mr. Hadaegh's presentation is : "The U.S. Healthcare System: Problems and Solutions". He will discuss how the U.S. pays more per capita on healthcare than any other industrialized nation, without covering everyone and with worse health outcomes. In addition, this dysfunctional system results in 68,000 deaths per year, 500,000 medical related bankruptcies, stagnation of wages, and a less healthy population than that of our international peers. This presentation will provide an overview of the U.S. healthcare system, how we got here, and proposals to help improve it.

Maz Hadaegh has a Master's of Science in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Economics from University of California, San Diego. He works as a program manager at Qualcomm. He has lived in San Diego for almost 30 years, and is a former board member of AIAP. In the last 5 years, he has grown increasingly alarmed by the failures of the U.S. healthcare system, has done extensive research on the subject, and volunteers as a single payer healthcare activist alongside members of his community.

Mr. Hadaegh will present in English, but he will be able to answer questions in Farsi. Even though the time provided for this presentation is an hour, in case the Q&A segment requires more time, additional time can be allocated accordingly.
