    AIAP’s June 2026 Hike

    Annie's Canyon Trail Sunday June 21, 2026

The AIAP hike for this month will be Annie's Canyon via La Orilla Trail. More information about the trail here.

    Meeting Time & Location:

We meet at the trailhead at 7:15 AM and start promptly at 7:30 AM.

    Hike Details:

The Annie's Canyon Trail is moderate, starts out flat and soon turns into loose sand and uneven ground. It ends in the slot canyon, which is named for its narrow, tight sections.

Hikers will reach ladder-style stairs within the slot canyon that help with steep climbs, along with wooden-plank stairs on the switchback path. At some spots, scrambling is needed. Visitors can also go into a small mushroom cave within the slot canyon.

When hikers reach the canyon's top, they come to a lookout platform with wide views of the San Elijo Lagoon Ecological Reserve and the far Pacific Ocean. It's a great spot to stop and enjoy the beauty of the area.

    Important Reminders:

Please bring enough water, breakfast to share, a personal cup of tea, water and wear comfortable hiking boots.

We will walk to the beach to have breakfast by the ocean.

Note: AIAP does not assume any responsibility for the safety and security of hikers, and shall not be held liable for any accident, injury, loss of property or damages as a result of joining the hiking event set up by AIAP. All hikers join the hiking events at their free will and assume all the accidental dangers of a hiking event, and shall not hold AIAP liable for any bodily, financial, or property damages.
