About this Talk:
Most people feel anxious or depressed at times. Losing a loved one, getting fired from a job, going through a divorce, and other difficult situations can lead a person to feel sad, lonely, scared, nervous, or anxious. These feelings are normal reactions to life's stressors.
But some people experience these feelings daily or nearly daily for no apparent reason, making it difficult to carry on with normal, everyday functioning. These people may have an anxiety disorder, depression, or both.
In this talk we will address the signs of depression and anxiety. Each person can take a personalized, private test to determine whether they are depressed or not. We also cover cognitive and medication therapy to manage depression and anxiety.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Manoochehr Khatami is the diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry of Neurology.; Board Certified. He has been the clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center, Southwestern Medical School at Dallas from 1988 to 2011. He is currently the clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of California San Diego.
He is a Psychiatrist with over 28 years of combined experience in private practice in adult Psychiatry and pain management, research activities within hospitals, integrated healthcare delivery systems, teaching institutions and managed care organizations. He is the Founder and co-director of Southwest Medical Pain Management Program. He is also the director of outpatient department and department of Psychiatry at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas.
He has published extensively and delivered lecture and talks internationally on cognitive therapy, chronic pain and existential Psychotherapy.
He is the Author of the book “How to find meaning in everyday life”.
